Pangasinan: D.I.Y. Itinerary & Travel Guide

Well known for a weeklong festival for the Bangus and the Hundred Island National Park, Pangasinan also boasts of golden sand beaches that will take your breath away, or at least make your skin several shades darker than before.

This province is perfect for a quick solo escape away from the city’s dark and dirty atmosphere. In Pangasinan, it’s sunny and affordable! I should know, with less than P2,000 in my wallet, I’ve been to this place almost every year for that secluded weekend getaway.

HOW TO GET TO PANGASINAN

The best way to reach Pangasinan is by taking a bus. I would recommend buying tickets from Victory Liner for night buses that will arrive in Bolinao early in the morning with only 5 to 6 hours travel time so you can still have plenty of rest before heading to the beach.

As an alternative, you may also check out Dagupan Bus or Five Star Bus lines.

WHAT TO DO AND SEE IN PANGASINAN

Being a coastal province, there’s a lot of water activities from beaches, island hopping, river cruises, and waterfalls. There are a couple of separate islands well-known for decent beaches but I have yet to explore them because I keep coming back to Patar, but in case you are interested, check out Dasol and Anda on Google.

WHERE TO STAY IN PANGASINAN

Pangasinan used to be a prime tourist destination and because of that, a lot of hotel and budget accommodations can be found there. While I was there, I got the opportunity to try out the best of both high end resort and rustic huts for an overnight stay.

WHERE TO EAT IN PANGASINAN

There’s more to Pangasinan that Dagupan’s Bangus. Bolinao has Binungey, Alaminos has their longganisa, and Calasiao has their puto. There’s also the nightly craving for Pigar-Pigar, a simple beef stir fry and being so near the sea, there’s an abundance of scrumptious seafood everywhere you look.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES

It may not be at the top of everyone’s list but I have my reasons for coming back over and over again. In terms of being a travel blogger, this was my first love being the first Philippine destination that I explored.
