Sagada will always have a special place in my heart and will always be one of my favorite places in the Philippines. I’ve been there three times and would still come back in a heartbeat… only it’s 12 hours away from Manila.
This is the perfect place to relax, have a cup of coffee, and snuggle with your bestie because of the cool climate. If you’re traveling alone, this charming town is a great spot for your soul-searching a.k.a. pag-iinarte moments.
HOW TO GET TO SAGADA
There are two ways to go there by bus with the most popular one via Baguio where your travel time will be divided in half. Victory Liner has trips that leave for Baguio every hour and will take an estimate of 6 hours. Once there, take a cab to Dangwa Bus Terminal and buy tickets for the Lizardo bus that’ll take you to Sagada. Take note that the last scheduled bus will leave at 1:00 PM, and you’ll run out of buses during peak season.

Alternatively, you can take a bus that goes straight to Bontoc for 12 hours. When you reach the place, find a jeepney that’ll take you to the town of Sagada.
Fret not if you think 12 hours on the long winding road will pulverize your butt muscles, because it will, but the view is so worth it. Also, try toploading if you have the chance!
WHAT TO DO IN SAGADA
If you are up to the challenge, I strongly recommend doing the Cave Connection. Since you went all the way there for 12 hours then you might as well do something you’ll never want to do ever again. Haha! Most of the sights and activities in Sagada require a lot of trekking so make sure you’re prepared.

WHERE TO STAY IN SAGADA
Rooms easily get booked especially during peak season as Sagada’s tourism is continuously rising. Budget inns line up along the main road of Sagada while a few posher places can be found as well. If you are willing to rought it up a bit, you can find decent accommodations for as less as P250 a night per person.

WHERE TO EAT IN SAGADA
Almost every restaurant in Sagada has their own signature dish. Best part about their menu is that the ingredients are picked fresh so make sure to eat as much vegetables as you can. The only drawback, it’s a common feedback that it takes them hours to serve the food so make sure not to go there when you’re hungry.

SAGADA FESTIVALS
Some of the most unique festivals can be found here, although for most of them, dates are not announced until a few days before so catching a festival is a pretty rare opportunity.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES
The relaxing atmosphere in Sagada is different from any other Philippine destination I’ve been to. The longer you stay there, the more its rustic charm grows on you. This place is a personal favorite and I’ll keep coming back.
