Just got lucky with Thunderbird Resorts Poro Point, La Union

I’m really not that picky with hotels and accommodations during trips. Give me a decent bed and a clean bathroom and I’m all set. Since I’m most probably gonna be exploring outside anyway, I’d rather spend more money on food and clothes than an expensive hotel. So when I got an invitation opportunity to stay at Thunderbird Resorts Poro Point to cover the launch of their condotels, who was I to refuse, right?

Since this third-world boy is not used to staying at five star hotels, I was completely enamored with the resort. For me, I was just lucky to be there as it’s the only one of its kind in the Philippines, most popular for its Santorini vibe and being featured in the movie No Other Woman. Unfortunately, no trace of Derek Ramsey could be found.

We went there via one of their coaster. It was almost an 8-hour trip because the driver had to break in this newly acquired shuttle and wasn’t allowed to drive too fast. It would’ve been okay if it weren’t for the two girls who sat beside me who just wouldn’t shut up for the entire trip. I wanted to punch them… and maybe do more brutal things involving a crowbar. Hahaha. I remember I had a debate earlier in the day whether I should bring my headphones or not and I eventually decided not to because bringing it would’ve been irrelevant. Wrong decision.

The resort was stark white and I figured it’s probably very challenging to maintain the cleanliness of the structures because of it. Being a fan of anything minimalist, I was really happy with the trademark Santorini vibe of the place. I love their choice of furniture and all the details in the design.

But if I had to single out one particular thing that I loved about Thunderbird Resorts, it would be this:

I grew up sleeping on the same regular mattress for 25 years. My body already has an imprint on my bed. So the moment I slipped into the bed at Thunderbird, I almost had an orgasm. The following day, I already had a stable and working relationship with the bed. I knew that saying goodbye would be difficult.

We were given a property tour the next day and was able to ride their golf carts. The managers guided us through the golf courses and through all of the house properties. For some reason, I felt like I was a loaded tourist spending his afternoon at a country club.

It was scorching extra hot in La Union and even though I was excreting too much sweat from my body, it didn’t stop me from doing some levitation photos. Good thing I decided to wear a tank top during the tour or else you’d see some wet spots around my underarms. Overshare much? Deal with it. Hahaha. My orange outfit complemented well with the green so all is well.

The pool was also quite lovely even though I heard it was only around 5 ft deep. Too bad I wasn’t able to swim because of time constraints and we prioritized exploring some sites in La Union. Also, I didn’t really bring any water-friendly clothes because I originally did not plan to get wet because I’m currently not too fond of my body when topless. Sayang cause I wanted to try out the bar within the pool.

Even an amateur like me can take nice photos of their pool area because it’s very photogenic. The decorated tiles at the bottom of the pool adds a nice touch to how it looks on photos.

We were also able to visit their boardwalk and their small beach which was a bit dirty because of a typhoon that happened a few days before. But despite of the washed up debris, the beach still provided a very nice view and I regret not stopping by the beach again for a closer look because I was having an intimate moment with my bed.

Naughty smirk. Gwapo ko dito no? Char!

If I ever go back to La Union, I might be tempted to go back here just for the bed and may be to finally try out the pool. Plus, the food was really great especially the poached fish. I kept going back for the fish. So yeah. I’ll be happy with the bed and the fish.
